Husky's on Urbanspoon

Husky’s is a burger, wings, sandwiches, and seafood place with 3 locations in the Houston area. We ate at the Copperfield location near Highway 6 and 290.

We had cheeseburgers and fries, and were pleasantly pleased. The burgers were well-cooked and flavorful, and made from 100% angus beef. The French fries were excellently seasoned and had a great crunch and soft inside. The real stars of the meal were the buns. They were slightly sweet and were an excellent complement to the burgers. We would have bought a bag of buns for the road if they had been offered.

The big drawback was the toppings-bar for the burgers. While it’s a great idea to let people top their burgers how they want, and there’s a good variety of toppings (2 kinds of pickles, 2 kinds of onions, etc.), many of the toppings seemed not very fresh like they’d been sitting out all day (which they probably were) and weren’t very appetizing.

The selection at Husky’s is INCREDIBLE. They serve about 15 different kinds of burgers, as well as chicken sandwiches, subs, Po’ Boys, seafood, gyros, salad, soup, chicken wings, nachos and wraps. They even have 8 different choices on the kids menu, so all of the picky eaters in your family should be satisfied. We like to start simple, and had just the plain cheeseburgers, but when we go back, which we definitely will, we’d like to try some of the other choices. From peaking around at the tables of other patrons, they all looked equally as delicious. We’ll report back and let you know how it went.

A really neat thing at Husky’s was the soda machine (yes I really did just say soda machine!). Besides the fact that they had just about every soft drink you could want, from root beer to Gatorade, the soda machines had 3 flavors of mix-ins available: cherry, vanilla, and lime. You can choose up to 2 flavors, and then select your drink, and the fountain adds in a measured amount of the flavors. It’s kind of the adult version of the self-serve special where you mix a little of every drink together.

They also have an arcade (which seems to only be open on the weekends) for the kids. There’s also a few TV’s on the ceilings, but they’re not so intrusive as to be the focal point of the restaurant.

The prices were just average for this type of restaurant (you order at a counter, and they call your number when your food is ready). But the food was good, so we can’t complain too much about the price.

All in all, we give Husky’s a 7 out of 10.

Positives: Good burgers, GREAT buns, excellent fries, good variety, arcade, fun soda machines.

Negatives: Old Lettuce/Onions/Pickles.
